#ClosingTheGap Ivory Coast

  • Public

26 July 2017 - On July 19th 2017 entrepreneurs, their representative associations and federations, financial institutions and business development support service providers from both the private and public sectors gathered at the Jokkolabs premises to validate the preliminary outcomes of the #ClosingTheGap Ivory Coast study.

The intention of the workshop was to engage participants in identifying gaps in the entrepreneurial ecosystem which hamper the growth of local enterprises. The goal was to formulate concrete solutions to tackle those issues and develop a more conductive environment for local businesses.

Ivorian entrepreneurial ecosystem

#ClosingTheGap was also an opportunity to showcase the potential of local entrepreneurs, representing different segments of the SME landscape. They talked about their entrepreneurial journeys and highlighted how accessible and valuable the current financial and related non-financial services are.

The participants then gathered in small working groups to go through the needs of the entrepreneurs. They followed their development path and identified the key issues they encountered, to formulate possible solutions in response.

Enterprise survey

The segmentation of the local SME sector was derived from the data of the DGGF-supported Enterprise Survey undertaken by the World Bank in 2016.
