Shona Group - set to scale and enhance agroecological enterprises
Shona Group (Shona) is a ‘nascent accelerator’ dedicated to growing East-Africa based niche enterprises which positively benefit their customers, employees, owners, value chain partners and communities in which they operate. Since 2013, Shona has supported more than 700 businesses, which created 2,000+ jobs and catalyzed USD 35M+ in investments. However, Shona struggles to break even, relying on restricted donor funding that hinders its financial sustainability and growth.
Shona welcomes the opportunity to partner with DGGF’s SC&BD facility through a Results-Based Financing (RBF) instrument. This instrument intends to transition its Neycha program, that builds sustainable and growing agroecological enterprises, to a “program-as-a-product” model. In this way, the program can be scaled and improved.
